programming (fast) 3D in Squeak

Hi, if I want to make accelerated 3D grafics in Squeak, is Balloon die right thing (or alice ) ? I observed that Ballon3D needs no openGL (because it runs on my toshiba notbook which has no openGL)..... Are there tutorials /examples to programm 3D ? How is it with VRML/X3D: it seems there is VRML stuff there, but i've heared it is only for reading ?????? Or would this all be obsolete because of Croquet ?? Greetings Hans

DVS fileOut truncation error

Avi, My DVS fileOut is being truncated for some reason. Here is a sample. The last line should read "self rendPackageList" but instead it says "self renderP" Any idea what might be causing that? [FIX][3.4] Enhanced-IRC with dynamic open menu

This is simply the Enhanced-IRC changeset downloaded from SqueakMap and fixed so that it is a good citizen with the 3.4 dynamic world->open... menu stuff.

[BUG][FIX] FileDirectory (on Windows)

Recently, I've encountered a serious bug on Windows. I've just starting running squeak out of c:\squeak, and I found that trying to install SqueakMap packages would occasionally cause things to go into an infinite recursion. Upon further inspection, I discovered that it was happening on FileDirectory>>assureExistence...to recreate, you can do the following: (FileDirectory on: 'c:\squeak') assureExistence You should be able to observe the broken behavior on any top level directory. In digging further is appears that the following answers false: (FileDirectory on: 'c:') exists If you are working with a second level directory (or deeper) assureExistence will also fail if the second level directory does not exists and even if the top level directory does exist. For example, if c:\squeak exists, but c:\squeak\icons does not, then the following will fail (infinite recursion): (FileDirectory on: 'c:\squeak\icons') assureExistence The attached change set fixes this problem by overriding #exists in DosFileDirectory to check whether the path is to a drive. It also makes #driveName a little more robust. I'm a bit concerned that this behavior might not be exibited in all versions of Windows. What I found was that "self primLookupEntryIn: pathName index: 0" in FileDirectory>>exists was not giving back the expected result for a pathName of 'c:' (or other drive letter) and thus it was answering false. I find it hard to believe that this was not caught until now. Anyway, this fix works, but the real fix might need to happen in the primitive...I don't know. - Stephen

[BUG][FIX][3.4beta] Browser>>findMethod barfs if there are no methods

1. Open Browser 2. Select class 'LineMorph' (has no instance side methods) 3. select 'find method...' form the class pane menu (or alt-f on windows) -> Error: Menu must not be zero size With this cs, an information dialog saying 'LineMorph has no methods.' appears instead.

I have an implementation of graphs based on the math morphs work with significant extensions (e.g. calculation of adjacency, reachability and distance matrices, cycles etc.) This work has been integrated with Ned Konz's connectors work to visualize the graphs. I have been working on pragmatic layout issues and need to implement planar detection and other characteristics to support this stuff. [see attached pic for an example] It is my intention to make the entire package available to everyone, but right now the work needs some refactoring to remove proprietary work. It is running in 3.2 now - I'll need to check it out in 3.4 before release I am hoping to get to this project in early January and release it soon thereafter. BTW, what's your interest?
