Well, other than the fact that I'm using 3.6-5434, I added AttributedTextStream class>>new and haven't had any problems (though I do recall that error). What URL were you accessing? Just a question - since when does SourceForge care about the open-sourcedness of a development tool? I've had involvement with at least one project (MinneStore) at SourceForge where the development tools in question (VW, Dolphin, and other Smalltalks) are most emphatically NOT open source and the project was approved without question. There are other projects there that are developed for .NET (the NUnit testing framework that I use comes to mind), and .NET is most emphatically not an open-source development tool. So has SourceForge changed their policy? (1) A "*.gif" file belongs to which class; (2) How to represent it and its other information, such as the date when it is produced, the author who creates it; (3) how to read it in other applications in Squeak. In another thread from December entitled simply 'Scamper' Stephen Davies reports that AttributedStream>>class new was removed with update 5503. Adding back the removed method with the text new ^ super basicNew initialize seems to fix the problem. I reposted this primarily to make it clearer in BFAV and to seperate it from another issue mentioned in the same thread. repeating the changes to String/Symbol comparison and hashing

Hi-- I'm updating the Squat snapshot (derived from Squeak 2.2) to have the current String/Symbol comparison and hashing behavior. (In 2.2 Strings and Symbols were never equivalent.) Hopefully one of my fellow archaeologists can check this... :) What I'm doing is: 1. install (ByteArray class)>>hashBytes:startingWith: 2. install (Set class)>>rehashAllSets 3. update Symbol>>= 4. update String>>= 5. update String>>hash 6. remove Symbol>>hash 7. evaluate (Set rehashAllSets) 8. evaluate (Symbol rehash), just for grins (Steps 3-6 are done atomically.) Is this correct?
