Squeak UI is freezing

Hi I'm using the 3.9 image, the developer version and I have the UI that freeze sometimes. Usually, when something like that appeared, I used <cmd> . to stop the process but here it's different. Whent the UI freeze, the cpu occupation is around 0% and <cmd> . just doesn't work ! Note, that when the UI is frozen but I can still use seaside applpication and sometimes I can get the hand back after playing with seaside or restarting a session. Does someone encounter the same problem ? I use 3.9g-7058 with most of the dev-packages I had this problem with linux (ubuntu), with vm 3.9-7 but also under windows. Do you think this is a problem is due to my image ? Thanks Cédrick

[Bug 3.9-7061]

Hi Stef It still won't work on my system. I just tried it with a new 7061 image ( threw away all SqueakV39.sources ). I tried it with several different VM's ( Unix 3-7-7/3-9-7 and Mac 3.8.12beta5U ) all give the same error. I did notice this however, that the debug log was appearing then disappearing ( quickly ) in the folder the 3.9 image was in. I absolutely cannot use self halt in any method. Steve

[ANN] Monticello for the KernelImage

Hi all, KernelImage now supports Monticello. It is little modified version that doesn't have tools and some kinds of repositories (SMTP, SuperWiki) but the amount of changes is quite low. It requires several packages like compression and network. All this packages including Monticello are clean. That means that Undeclared is empty after loading. All this packages are Monticello packages so it aren't ad hoc ugly changesets. Next information and download here: http://www.comtalk.net/Squeak/98. Please try to play a little with it and convert next important packages (load it, fix all Undeclared, test it). My next goal is fast shrinking script generated from self-bootstrapping environment (I've got first working versions) -- Pavel

Hi, surfing on the web I have found this new language: http://factorcode.org/ It is a stack-based language with a very flexible parser. It borrows idea from Self and it seems very promising to me. Entirely against my will, I once worked in a perl shop, and I noticed that perlites liked joining things. Whenever I find myself wanting to join a bunch of items together (e.g. to make a path) I am never satisfied with the result and so I took a look at the Collections/String classes to see whether anything fitted nicely. I came up with SequencableCollection>>join: aCollection ^ self class streamContents: [ :stream | aCollection do: [ :each | stream nextPut: each ] separatedBy: [ stream nextPutAll: self ] ] and Character>>join: aCollectionOfStrings ^ self class streamContents: [ :stream | aCollectionOfStrings do: [ :each | stream nextPutAll: each ] separatedBy: [ stream nextPut: self ] ] and Collection>>joinWith: aCollection aCollection join: self ---- This now allows (Array with: 1 with: 2) join: (Array with: 3 with: 4 with: 5) $/ join: (Array with: 'Hello' with: 'my' with: 'World'). any thoughts? An 3.9 image for developers

Hi, I'm creating a ready-to-use image for developers based on Squeak 3.9-7057. This image will be published in ftp.squeak.org. I would like to know what are the tools you use as a developer. The package ImageForDevelopers (available on SqueakMap and SqueakSource) will be used to configure everything. A Wiki has been set up and you can modify it: http://damiencassou.seasidehosting.st/seaside/pier Developers responsible for one or more of this packages should tell me where is the best version for an integration or directly fill the wiki.
