BUG with OrderedCollection new writeStream ?

Hi -- a couple of problems 1) did SqueakMap stop working in 3.10 ? I am using sq3.10-7143dev07.09.1.image a clean image and I get a walkback when I try to open Squeakmap. 2) I thought I saw this problem discussed previously but I can't find it -- my method pane now goes red with big X when I try to enter a method. It shows TextMorphForShout>>drawOn: on the walkback -- any clues ?? Steve

Writing ALL META data and operations using Message Passing Syntax [MPS]

Hi, It is not only possible and deseriable to write ALL META data and operations in Unary, Binary and Keyword Message Passing Syntax [MPS] (as done in Smalltalk), it has potent results. See it as a simulation in 3d+time. Let us see the flow of programs alter with declarations guiding their construction and operation. Reply with any declaration or meta program operation that you wish to have expressed in MPS. What are they? Rewrite it into MPS using standard Smalltalk with minimal Objects from the library. What do declarations look like in Smalltalk? Declarations can exist within a stream of coding whatever aspect of program operation that you desire. Declarations interact in an environment influencing those relevant program statements according to the dynamics or statics of the declation internals. Hi Edgar -- I downloaded the image you pointed to and I still get an error trying to load SqueakMap. VersionNumber>>= shows to be the offending message. Steve

overridding without subclassing examples

Is there a way to override an instance method w/o subclassing? For instance, class Morph has a method that returns true, but I want the that method to return false when instancing some types of Morphs and others not. (there is no setter/getter for this method.) Is there a way to do that w/o adding a setter/getter to Morph or subclassing the different Morphs?

A Pipe to the Future

Hi, I am wondering if the following would be possible and if so how? aProcess := [ "a block that pumps out continuous values"] fork. bProcess := [:in | in someOperation ] fork. "pipe the results of process a into process b like in unix shell" aProcess asPipeInto: bProcess. or aProcess | bProcess Would a shared queue be needed? Or some other concurrency control mechanism for sharing the output results. Unfortunately blocks don't pump out multiple values... or fortunately they don't. Just a thought. Cheers, Peter

Improving ToolBuilder

Hi, I've just tried to replace part of OB-Morphic (the framework to build OmniBrowser interfaces using Morphic) by UIManager. It worked for: OBMorphicPlatform>>handleChoiceRequest: request | choice | choice := (PopUpMenu labelArray: request labels lines: request lines) startUpWithCaption: request prompt. ^ request values at: choice ifAbsent: [nil] I replace it by: OBMorphicPlatform>>handleChoiceRequest: request ^ UIManager default chooseFrom: request labels values: request values lines: request lines title: (request prompt ifNil: ['']) But how can I change OBMorphicPlatform>>handleConfirmationRequest: request ^ PopUpMenu confirm: request prompt trueChoice: request okChoice falseChoice: request cancelChoice There is no such method in UIManager. And this one: OBMorphicPlatform>>handleTextRequest: request ^ FillInTheBlankMorph request: request prompt initialAnswer: request template centerAt: Sensor cursorPoint inWorld: World onCancelReturn: nil acceptOnCR: true There is no way of returning nil on Cancel.
