StandardFileStream - Browser Plugin Compatibility

Hi everyone, Fabio recently found some primitive which got us curious: StandardFileStream>>#primBrowserReady. After some investigation it turns out that there are a number of primitives, methods, and classes (e.g. PluginHTTPDownloadRequest) related to running Squeak as a Browser Plugin. Is this currently supported? If not I would suggest dropping support by removing the correpsonding code. Bests, Patrick

StandardFileStream - Browser Plugin Compatibility

Squeak used to be able to run in the browser, yea. It’s the property of a plugin called npsqueak, which stands for Netscape Plugin Squeak, and can be found in the standard set of plugin folders that come prepared to compile a new VM. Bert built it in 1999 and I think it was used by Etoys to some extent. I haven’t seen it running for well over a decade. As Bert also built SqueakJS it seems reasonable to think this is no longer a project he either uses or supports. The readme in the npsqueak plugin folder says more. Chris

SqueakMap updating fails to update files

Then remove the trailing slash. It downloads. How about posting that Installer script here. I’d like to see it. Because that’s all we’re talking about: saving an Installer script to disk for future download. SqueakMap server makes that process staggeringly unreliable and complicated. It would be easiest to just store them in a directory accessed by the Squeak FTP client to download them. That doesn’t have the helpful meta-information and labeling. But that’s exactly the same thing. (I fixed that FTP problem ages ago. I think I put something in the Inbox. I don’t remember clearly.) All we’re talking about here is Installer scripts. SqueakMap may have once had an all embracing, extensible design, but the use case has been reduced to this one alone. Installer scripts won. This kind of thing could be knocked together pretty easily with Seaside: uploading files to download later. And really, since SqueakMap model is in every image, it would be easy to subclass and extend those classes, so that the ReferenceStream was a catalogue of Installer scripts explorable through the SqueakMap UI instead of that categories and package info gibberish. Who wouldn’t want to down a file that allowed them to explore 100 Installer scripts using the SqueakMap UI? I would imagine all that stops such a sane course is archiving a catalogue of legacy projects which can no longer be loaded into contemporary images. Bug in SystemNavigation>browseAllMethodsInCategory:

Hi, I just tried the following: SystemNavigation new browseAllMethodsInCategory: 'as yet unclassified' In the message set there are many methods that show "Missing" as source, when I select them. Looks like each method implemented in one class is erroneously repeated for all of the subclasses. For example, I get "... class initializedInstance" for every class because it is "as yet unclassified" in ProtoObject class. Kind regards, Jakob
