Why can't I ping another machine from Squeak even though it works from cmdline ?

I was trying to get some insight into my problems with the RFB/VNC performance and tried the purportedly trivial `Socket ping: 'gravious.local'` It doesn't work from Squeak. It does from a shell, or indeed from the OSProcess sub task. 'Gravious.local' is the bonjour name for my local X64 xubuntu box. The result is an immediate error because the apparent problem is that attempting to connect the socket to the (correctly resolved) IP leaves the socket status as 0/Unconnected. This actually makes the ping: code drop straight out and run the refusedBlock in Socket>>#waitForConnectionFor:ifTimedOut:ifRefused: If I try 'google.com' (you might have heard of them?) it doesn't do this but instead simply times out after 10 seconds. If I try using the IP address instead of the name, it makes no apparent difference, not even for the same machine/localhost. I tried out Socket class>>#pingPorts:on:timeOutSecs: for fun, since it tries a list of normally accessible ports. No luck there either. I've tried from ARM 64bit linux, X64 linux, Mac OS - can't try from Windows. [RELEASED] [ProCrypto.release.3] #green 374 passing

Hello all, I bailed on getting NaCl working, though the support for libsodium FFI is there. However, I was able to complete my long efforts at moving ASN1 to recognize class tagging. And I have a test! Thus these changes to Crypto's ASN1 is to support my efforts with EParrotTalk and I believe I am finished with these changes. #GREEN! Andso, I will put a seal on this release of ProCrypto.release.3-rabbt.60.mcm. Nota bene: I am automatically updating from the alpha truck every time the image resumes. > Installer ss project: 'Cryptography'; install: 'ProCrypto.release.3'. In ParrotTalk, I got all the v39 headers working, Now to the protocol state machine, though they are still being marshaled with a choice, so I am not yet directly marshaling them as first class ASN1Types with the applicationClass class tag <2r01>. I am using numeric tags 0-31 between ParrotTalk and PromisesFar. I have registering them all, so I am ready to remove the choice. You fail 100% of the time you don't take your shot. Cheers! -- ❤️‍🔥🐰

Which FloatArray for SmallFloat64s?

Hi all, this is a rather loose collection of some observations and questions that came to my mind while exploring floats and scaled decimals. Comments and patches appreciated. 1. Exponential notation in radix floats 13r0.1e2 --> 13.0 14r0.1e2 --> 14.0 15r0.1e2 --> 0.12948148148148148 "How can I specify the exponent for bases where e is treated a digit? Should this be possible in literal syntax?" 2. Exponent letters "Answer to myself re 1:" 15r0.1q2 --> 15.0 "Wow! Why is this supported in SqNumberParser>>#exponentLetters? I have seen this nowhere else. And just to uphold my question from above, think about this:" 26r0.1q2 --> 26.0 27r0.1q2 --> 0.0728039424884418 3.
