Some of you might find the following interesting. Mmm but you should read all of the licensing material first.
Welcome to Smalltalk/X (ST/X) version 4.1.2.
Most important first: we have changed our licencing policy; ST/X may now be used - even commercially - without any license fee. This shall help to spread the Smalltalk language and strengthen the Smalltalk comunity.
Please read the additional licence conditions at the end of this document. <<<
However, there is no - I repeat NO - support, or maintenance guarantee whatsoever; unless you have a maintenance contract with eXept.
For customers which require support, early bug fixes, maintenance and early new features, eXept still provides a maintenance contract at a fee which is comparable to the previous commercial license fees.
For pricing information please contact us at info@exept.de.
John, I went to your site and located Smalltalk/X under Smalltalk Resources. It appears the link has changed. Please update the link. Thanks, Phil

Then read also this from the README:
Additional Rules for using ST/X:
(...)
2.) In addition to any pending export regulations, as valid at any place and time, we do NOT allow without explicit written permission, for this software to be used in or exported or re-exported to any of the following countries:
Afghanistan (not limited to the taliban area) Iran, Iraq, Libya, Serbia, Sudan, Syria
or to persons or entities which support any terroristic activity either directly or indirectly, any person or entity which is involved with missile technology, land mines or nuclear, chemical or biological weapons.
We keep the right to extent the above list for any country which does not honor a (what we consider as being a) minimal set of human rights.
By the way, Claus and I teach a Smalltalk course using ST/X at the U of Tübingen right now. All students can now use it at home too.
Frank.
