I've added the following to http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/306 for OS X users. If someone understands how to make the "platform independent" files on UIUC truly platform independent, it would be nice if they would do so and remove this warning from the swiki.
Warning: downloading the image and changes files from the "platform independent" link in the UIUC site seems to yeild an image file of "Kind: SqueakImage" which the Carbon version of the VM does not recognize. The images file from the full stuffit mac download is of "Kind; Document" and it works with the Carbon VM.

Mmm I think the carbon VM should open file types of STim which is the squeak image file tag. At least that is what is in the open and kind resource for the VM.

Well, on Mac OS X, the platform independent file-name extensions (.image) are also supported, so Squeak should recognize the .image extension, which CocoaSqueak does.
