Smalltalk is a programming language/environment etc. Physical attractiveness of people doesn't really affect anything we're doing here. And using it for marketing is offensive a significant number of people. I'm hopeful we can do better as a community.

Ick. Me too. That is not the kind of help that any of us needs, nor is it the kind of publicity that I personally would care to be associated with.
If someone would like to do somthing to attract new people to the commumity, then please make an effort to commmunicate the importance, past and future, of women in this commumity.
If I look at the people who were most influential in getting me involved in Squeak and Smalltalk, many of them were women (Deb Lewis, Carron Odokara, Adele Goldberg). Surely we do not need to do anything more to discourage the active participation of creative and innovative women in our community. Let's please try to do better.

(Best to ignore it. Drawing attention to this aspect of the article by asserting the female in the picture has "too much attractiveness," aggravates the very problem you wish to avert for females in Squeak.)

Hear! Hear!
To be fair, the person who wrote the article has no direct role in the Amber team (or Pharo, or PharoJS), he is simply a Smalltalk fan who is trying to help build the community. But you make an excellent point.!
