For the sillier restrictions (which I can't really defend very strongly :)), it might still be valuable if Squeak is able to detect them. Such a facility would let people who are develop ANSI compatible code in Squeak, at least at the syntax level. Perhaps we can follow gcc's lead, and provide an #ansiPedantic preference? When set, only ANSI constructs are allowed. When left off, anything goes, including 8r12.1 and everything else.
