Hi all,
3.8 has now been moved to gamma and one more fix.
If there are fixes out there that are still missing or urgent bugs that you think should be fixed before final, now is the time to speak up.
Michael

ttcFix.cs that Marcus (Denker) approved would be a good one to include.

I allready put this as an update for 3.9alpha.
so we just need to add the entry to the updates.list:
6471ttcFix.cs
besides that, this should be in 3.8 I think:
6473FileCttBrowsServicesFix-md.cs

One thing we need to do is updating the in-image packages. (e.g. SUnit). We used to add a changset that loads the package via SqueakMap, but this may be no good idea with the Monticello based packages, as the loader for mzc that is used when Monticello is not present is a bit dumb (it does not delete methods...). So what do we do?
And then we need to put a full image together for 3.8

Ned proposed a smart solution - take an image, install Monticello, create a new changeset (or perhaps that is done automagically), upgrade the package in question and then save the changeset for inclusion into the update stream. The changeset should then do the "proper" thing.
And thus we don't force Monticello into the Basic image. :) But I wonder for how long we can do this - IMHO Monticello might be due for inclusion in Basic.
And then we need to put a full image together for 3.8

Ok, yes, goo idea. I will do that for SUnit.
Question: did the other maintainers of in-image packages re-integrated the m17n changes into the package? e.g SM has seen some small changes in 3.8alpha... (it's nearly impossible to not touch the packages when doing refactorings, as there is no way to tell what is a package and what not).

Right. Eh... but... for packages using Monticello it is pretty clear, isn't it?
Anyway, I haven't done anything yet for SM. I will try to get some time to do it ASAP.

Don't forget the image side change related to bug 209 object become: itself. Hmm, looks like we forgot to attach the file... reopen.... attach, note, re-resolve...
Ok there should be a suitable file. It adds a single line to the post-prim failure code to check for the possibility of self become: self type problems. It would be utterly benign on an older vm and helpful on a newer (3.8 or later) one since the vm side ofthe fix is accepted for the upcoming VMMaker3.8a1

ok, got it.
Yes, the idea with Mantis is that the "resolved" items have a .cs that is good and need to be added. After adding, they are closed.

Have you harvested the fixes from Mantis? I and others have attached fixes to bug reports.
Specifically, there's the selection fix that I posted recently and was supposedly picked up as update 6474. But I didn't see that when I updated my 3.8b image. It appears to be in the 3.9alpha stream, though.
So I'd suggest adding 6472StringMorphEditorSelectionFix-nk.cs to the 3.8 stream.
And there are still bugs marked "major" and "crash" that haven't been resolved yet.

Yes, all that were in a shape that we could add are added (either to 3.8 or 3.9(enh)).
So there are some that I personally don't feel I can say if they are good or not (mostly morphic things).
And then there are some that have conflicts with other updates (hint to authors: I is around a hundred times faster if the author fixes that instead of somebody else).

Would be nice, but on the other hand they don't look like showstoppers to me.

Hi,
I'd upload these, but, st.cs.uiuc.edu seems to have gone south. Did the snow in IL take down power or something?
thanks.
