Since the subject of deprecating code comes up here fairly often, I just created a "Deprecation" page on the swiki, which hopefully summarizes how deprecating methods and classes is (or should be) handled in Squeak:

Which reminds me, there are some methods lying around in the image which have been deprecated for at least 2 releases, and should probably be removed now in 3.9alpha.

what would be nice is to find a way to deprecate classes.
Doug we also added backwardCompatibility.... (methods that should not be used but so stay longer in the system).
