Various User Images

I created a directory on ftp.squeak.org called various_images to be the top directory of donated images. right now there is SqueakLight and Developers (which I deleted from above (developers_image). there are no images, yet. Edgar wanted to have SqueakLight on squeak.org, but I haven't rcv'd the image yet.

Call For Base Image Descriptions

Brad, how is this for a general posting to squeak-dev from the webteam? All, If you are compiling a development image, or other signification image that should be shared on the download page of squeak.org and will be uploaded to the ftp download site, could you please fill in the following and return it so that it can be included on the download page of the web site. Image Name: (A name that represents what this image is, like a nickname) Image File Path and Name: (A full path to the latest .im that is in the ftp download site) Description of Image: (include what this image has loaded and how it might be used) Creation Date: (When image was created) Creator: (Who developed this image) Thanks, Squeak WebTeam

Adding/updating files in FTP (Re: other images)

I can offer two solutions to the issue of hosting images for various people (the FTP side of the problem anyway). 1. The web team takes responsibility for this (you already own the overall FTP directory) and anyone that wants an image hosted sends it to you or tells you where to get it from. This way the 'customer' has to work through the web team. In the past this hasn't worked so well since there hasn't often been more than 1-2 active members and there have been a couple of past instances (John McIntosh's Mac VM updates for example) where the team has not been very responsive to update requests. 2. A folder is created in the FTP site and under that folder there are seperate folders for each type of image and each of those is owned by the image developer. Each developer would have his/her own account on box2. This is much as I have already done for Damien and his Developer's image. I'm not too happy with the idea of creating and managaing a bunch of accounts and would prefer that we start with solution #1 and see how it goes. Maybe having a larger number of requests more often will result in a faster response time than in the past. If that doesn't work maybe I will come up with a third solution by the time we find out. Considering all the new images being developed do you think it would be a good idea to have a web page for 3.9 pre built images? It could have the latest prebuilt image, when it was created, what it has in it, who did it and a brief summary of what it might be used for. How come there are many squeakfoundation subdomains (people, discuss...) but no: http://www.squeakfoundation.org/ ? Is there not enough room to move http://smallwiki.unibe.ch/SqueakFoundation to http://www.squeakfoundation.org/
