I'd have thought that the obvious way would have been to make it 
AppleScript-able.  It's 'object oriented' so you could send a 
specific message to a particular class or object.

Making squeak AppleScriptable would also help with allowing other 
applications to use it.

Separating the gui from the data (the view from the model?) would 
also help with modularising Squeak.
