isolated portions in an image

That is a separate issue from multiple windows.  Just having separate
windows does not protect things in one window from influencing things in
another; it would still be one big soup of objects underneath.

If you are interested in multiple partially isolated domains within a
single image, then here are two projects you may be interested in.
