Note that it is the alignment morph that gets added to the window (the shout
pane is transparent by default). Makes it tricky to make things stick, even
with subclass overrides ;-). That's just the way the browsers are built.

That is probably the answer.  I will try it shortly.  Again, it is a
relatively minor point, and I am probably going about it incorrectly.

How were you trying to change the background?
Can be done directly via halo. For something more permanent have a look at
#initialColorInSystemWindow: (added this since was more flexible than the
original hard-coded white).

I tried the changes (from yesterday) with the focus changes, and it was a
huge help!  I still think there is something that you install by default
that I do no use, resulting in some problems.  The universe definition might
provide a clue - if I'd only look at it :(  If I had to guess, I would say
that the way to get it to work is to install from the universe and then
update using the mcz files.

I spent a little time trying to change the background colors, and found
Shout to be stubbornly thwarting my efforts.  That is not a big deal, other
than eye-strain relief for me.  It might well be more of a Shout question
than anything to do with your work.
