I don't have access right (new PC!), but how about this as a rewrite?
(I didn't know if the 2200+ tests ran _successfully_ so I didn't add
that.)
Can someone else can place it in the readme after Edgar approves/updates?

3dot10 is the first "official" release without packages. This is the
first step in a series that will lead us to successively less complex
images. In next releases, the goals are towards:
   MininimalMorphic > Kernel > Spoon

This release does not have the following packages:
#('Flash' 'StarSqueak' 'SmaCC' 'Speech' 'Movies' 'FixUnderscores' 'OB'
'OmniBrowser' )

"Universes" created by Lex Spoon, is now in this release. This enables
one to load external 'Universe' packages that are under active
development.

For packages that are older or not in Universes, you can still use
SqueakMap inside your Squeak image. You can also visit
http://www.squeaksource.com/ via your web browser, locate the package
of choice and manually add it to your MonticelloBrowser.
For example:
For Keith Hodges "Installer", go to: http://www.squeaksource.com/Installer.
For "Universes" go to: http://www.squeaksource.com/universes.

* Quality control *
This release is not perfect, but we have more than 2200 tests which run
under Mac OS X, Windows XP, and SimplyMepis 6.5 Linux each time a [BUG] or
[ENH] report on Mantis was received.
