Processing objects using Ma Client Server

Hi All, I'm struggling with trying to implement conditionality in Server processing. What I am doing now is: myServer processOn: 12345 using: [ :requestObject | [requestObject processThis] fork. responseObject ] This allows processThis to happen and responseObject to come back. What I'd like to do is: myServer processOn: 12345 using: [ :requestObject | [requestObject is MemberOf:A] ifTrue:[(requestObject instVarL)='somevalue' ifTrue:[ ResponseObject1 instVarA:( (requestObject instVarL) ) ].] [requestObject is MemberOf:B] ifTrue:[(requestObject instVarT)='somevalue' ifTrue:[ ResponseObject2 doSomething:(requestObject)].] ] I'd like to get a response without forking.... so that the responseObject is based on the conditionality and the value of one of its instance variables is based on some processing of an instance variable of the requestObject. Is there something structurally wrong with what I am trying to do, i.e. introduce conditionality within the processOn method? Kind regards, Hari

MaObjectSerializer Error: "Incomplete graph, check serializer configuration"

Hi All, When attempting to serialise an object within my application, I get the error set out in the subject line, viz., "MaObjectSerializer Error: "Incomplete graph, check serializer configuration" When I have attempted to serialise an object of TestClass1 contained in an object of TestClass2 pursuant to the following class hierarchy: RectangleMorph I_ TestClass1 I_ TestClass2 onto a file in the filesystem, I have no problems. What could be causing the error? If any of the morphs are stepping, would that cause this error? Thanks in advance for all assistance, Hari

Error on Windows 10 After loading Ma Client Server on the latest Squeak version

Hi Chris et al, I just loaded Ma Client Server on a new Squeak image in Windows 10 and got an error : WindowsOSProcessAccessor does not understand #restoreSigTerm in restartSigTermHandler. It is called by "initialize" and "startUp:" in MaServer. Kind regards, Hari

Magma (head) now runs in the 64-bit image

"MagmaTestCase suite debug" just passed in the 64-bit image! Wow, that was a lot easier than I thought. The only compatibility issue turned out to be the new range of SmallInteger now extending out to 60 bits instead of only 30. A 64-bit image can read all LargeInteger buffers created in 32-bit environments valued between the legacyMaxVal and the new 60-bit just fine. However, It must serialize SmallIntegers larger than legacyMaxVal as LargeIntegers, because Magma's oid space is only 48 bits. With these overrides in SmallInteger, legacy Magma applications can now run in a heterogeneous environment of 32 and 64-bit images and VMs. VM installation onto 64-bit OS's will no longer require the complicated installation of the 32-bit libraries, a big gain for users! Back when Squeak only had the interpreter VM, Magma actually had a 64-bit oid space, but it was too early, it proved to be bigger than necessary for the speed of that time, so I cut it to 48 bits. :-\ 48 bits is still big enough for huge databases, but starting to feel limiting in the 64-bit environment especially now that the 64-bit image has optimized double-precision floats, as well..! So many projects. I wish a brilliant PhD student would design Magma a new optimal "magma64" oid-space! - Chris

Magma Buffer Browser

Hi all, I am trying to find Magma Buffer Browser in order to better understand how things are stored in repository. According to http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/5728 should I be able to find it on Squeakmap but unfortunately is not true anymore. From what I can see was it removed 2012? Does anyone have a copy? What is MagmaDifferentBranch?

I am new to Magma. I am working with 1.5 Server edition, in Squeak 5.0. I have a collection that will be in the tens of thousands of elements so I created a Magma collection with two MaAsciiStringIndexes. As I add an object to this collection, I get a MagmaDifferentBranch error, which I can't get past, and I don't understand what the error is. I have been struggling with getting this set up, so there may be issues with the state of the database repository. Any help understanding this error would be appreciated. Sincerely, Doug

Tiny 1.6 client problems

Some random magma questions

Hi all, I have a few questions: I get seems to get this when trying to persist "Serialization sizeWarningThreshold reached. Proceed to double it.” I see that this is defined in MaSerializedGraphBuffer to around 100Mb. What is advised here, smaller commit to keep the size down or is it ok to allow large (byte size wise) collections to be serialized? I also run into that I cannot serialize graphs > 4M objects - is there a way of inspecting the graph? Lastly, in http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/2985 - what is meant with an "uncached #root” and how can one avoid it? I.e. I should have the application in a transaction all the time. Would it be enough to just assign the root to a instance variable in my business logic objects? Best regards, Tim
