Source code for beta releases of Magma are currently posted in "Monticello Configurations" (but if anyone has suggestions for a more effective collaboration, please speak up). MC Configurations are simply a list of specific package versions that make up the entire Magma suite.
Although there are three installations of Magma, "client", "server" and "tester", the beta releases only come in the "tester" flavor, which makes sense since they are still under development and need to undergo more testing anyway.
To install the new r41Beta4 Magma in a fresh 3.9 image, here are the steps to take:
- Load Monticello 1.5 from SqueakMap (I loaded the "1.5.436-bootstrap" version). - Add this HTTP repository to the Monticello browser:
MCHttpRepository location: 'http://www.squeaksource.com/MagmaTester' user: 'squeak' password: 'squeak'
- Open the repository, scroll down to the bottom and you will see "r41Beta4" in the left-hand pane. Load that one.
Installing in Squeak 3.10.2:
3.10.2 appears to have problems with support for loading Monticello Configurations. I was not able to even select the r41Beta4 package because it produced the error stack below.
Keith, do you know what is needed to get MC Configurations working with 3.10? Is this even something that should be done or is the community moving toward Universes or even another configuration system?

Your best bet is to install first http://installer.pbwiki.com/LevelPlayingField
Otherwise you will be an idiot like me spending an afternoon just to try to install a package.
The situation with the Squeak management is becoming so bloated that people are going to run away...
