Hi Fritz,

Unfortunately, your opinion (however valid) just doesn't match with
the reality of the situation. While I absolutely agree that online
materials needs to be updated for 3.0 (if anyone wants to update
seaside.st, please speak up - I certainly don't have the time right
now), the tutorials are not part of the distribution. They're
independent efforts by other people and, since they're volunteering
their time, we can't force them to update them on any schedule other
than their own. Now is the perfect time to do that updating since the
APIs are stable but the release isn't yet final - if you have time to
help update them, I'd guess the various authors would appreciate it.

As much as I agree with you that the tutorials need to be updated,
however, I do not believe that avoiding improvements to the framework
in the meantime is an appropriate response. We've put a lot of effort
into maintaining backwards compatibility where possible but this is a
case where I'm personally quite comfortable with the compromise.

I could maybe see having a more prominent link on the Welcome page for
this release saying something like "Not what you were expecting to
see? Click here to hide this screen and see a list of applications."
As Nick points out, this is available when you click on Browse but if
the tutorial authors feel they're going to be a while, perhaps this
would be helpful to some?

Julian
