Credit where it's due: Georg Gollmann did the "ritual sprinkling" of the
#ifdefs for the headless version.

(And a damn fine job too: after two [three?] revisions of the support
code [including the X shared memory extensions] since the last time I
tried, I compiled with -DHEADLESS the other day and it worked first
time! :)
