I'll be very interested in hearing your experience with ST and kids. Remember:
that is what it was originally created for.

Tell your predecessor to look at history:

    September 1992 - the cover of Byte Magazine asks "Is Unix Dead?". The
                                    experts agreed that it had missed the boat.
                                    They didn't imagine Linux.

    from 1998 on - Linux fever shakes the world

    1995 - experts agree that Self is dead and Smalltalk would soon follow
                since Java is unstoppable. They didn't imagine Squeak.
