This sound problem on Unix is definitely a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ), so I just updated the Squeak FAQ item "What to do if Squeak crashes or freezes" to include something about it.

See http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/2168

I created this FAQ item awhile ago to include some general answers about what to do if Squeak appears to crash or freeze. (complete with as many intra-Swiki links as I could manage :) ) It tries to cover what to do in the event of a:

1. Crash
2. Freeze
3. Pre-debug window appearing
4. Emergency Evaluator appearing

Feel free to update it if I've left anything out.
