3.5 update servers "seem to be unavailable"?

And then there is that oddity where the "SqC Internal Updates*" group 
shows up now in the latest 3.6alpha, which somehow snuck in during the 
network rewrite.  I can take a look at that... probably just need a 
do-it which removes that server from some server list.  (Although having 
the extra group is harmless for now, there are no extra updates in there.)
