Hi Eliot,
Hi Tim,
how about adding that advice to build.linux32x86/HowToBuild?
Where do you want it in that file?
The table of contents of the HowToBuild file looks like this->
How To Build On Linux
---------------------
Contents:
- Overview
- Checking out sources to build out-of-the-box
- Building out of the box
- Building the Bochs Support Libraries
- Compiling in 32-bit mode on a 64-bit linux
- How to configure and build a VM on Unix
- Testing an external plugin has completely linked
- Optimization level and gcc version (please read!)
- Installing support libraries
the -"How to configure and build a VM on Unix" does go into some detail so the information is there it is just that one has to think a bit.
Would a '-For the impatient' or '-Terse guide' section be helpful?
>cd [language].[vm].[memory model] (e.g. cd squeak.cog.v3)
>cd build[.*] (cd to your desired build type.)
>cat mvm (study this)
cordially,
tty
