Calling shared objects on Linux

I want to call a shared object (on Linux) from Squeak. I've been reading the chapter in the "Squeak Book" entitled "Extending the Squeak Virtual Machine". I've read about the "Slang" dialect of Squeak and using it to generate C code - cool! My question is: If I have a *.so that I want to call from Squeak, should I build another *.so (using Slang) that calls the *.so I need to invoke? Is there another way? Can the *.so be called directly - in some fashion? Elzbieta

No. What I meant was if you have a ProjectViewMorph (the little windows you refer to), then click on it and hold the button until a menu appears. Select 'ENTER ACTIVE' and the project will open in a bright green border with some colored buttons in the upper left. This you *can* interact with. The changeset seems to work fine in 2.9a-3278... there are no direct conflicts with other (post-3193) changesets, either. Maybe give it a shot for a few days, anyway. (As a quick verification that his changeset works, modify Browser>>openAsMorphEditing: so that hSepFrac is set to 0.5. Sleeping in Squeak?

This may seem like a silly question, but here goes- I'm trying to add some ability to the Squeak IRC client to keep me from getting kicked off when I'm not around. I'd like to run some IRC command perhaps every 5 minutes (whois rev). I'm looking for the Smalltalk equivalent of C's sleep(n) function. Something that will simply wait for a number of seconds without the ugliness of an always true #whileTrue: loop. Is there one? I keep thinking that inner worlds have outstayed their welcome now that multiple projects projects can be on-screen at once. I'd like to hear from folks who actually use inner worlds for something. Steve, The method was moved: ProjectLoading thumbnailFromUrl: 'http://www.squeak.org/Squeak2.0/FinalFrontier.morph.gz'. Dan, If you leave this in the 3.0 image, the above change actually works.
