SqueakMap & monticello feature requests

First, an easy one...I'd like the ability to browse the code of certain packages on SqueakMap (could just do the easy ones like change sets and *.st packages first)...it would be a little more difficult for SARs, but shouldn't be impossible. Now for a more elaborate request involving SqueakMap and Monticello...what I would like in Monticello is the ability to assign a version string to a package (but still have the auto-generated version numbers). Then I'd like the ability to directly export a package version to another repository. And, I possibly might want to be able to organize repositories in a hierachical fashion and have a "promote" capability that would simply export a package version to the "parent repository" in the hierarchy. The version string would enable me to correlate versions in multiple repositories (since the internal version number would not match up). Package versions would have to have a version string before they are allowed to be exported. Once a package has been exported to another repository, its version string would become immutable (in both repositories). Then, I'd like SqueakMap to be able to register a package that resides in a Monticello repository and have SqueakMap (server or client, whichever works best) be able to communicate with the repository to pull version information, etc for the package. This of course then implies that there needs to be some measure of security in Monticello that would allow read-only access but restrict update access. Why do I want these things? So that I can have a local repository on my laptop for my packages, have a shared private repository for projects that I'm working on with other people, and have a public respository for published projects accessible through SqueakMap. As I work, I'll create versions in my local repository. I'll occassionally publish versions to the shared repository, and when ready, I'll finally push versions out to the public repository. Perhaps a simply hierarchy of repositories would not be sufficient...instead, I might want to simply be able to "link" repositories (and name the repositories) and be able to "push" packages between them. The linking would serve no other purpose than to make it simple to "right click a package version, and 'push' it to one of a list of linked repositories". - Stephen

In essence, you hold onto the object using a weak array; are notified when it is garbage-collected; and clear appropriate fields based on copies of the data in the object. - Peter

Collection-Graphs ? (Graph-MathMorph, Connector, Arrow, T-Gen...)

Hi I'm planning building a Collection-Graph, for my research (phD). I would like to know if there is such a functional Graph classes ? I know several implementations : - MathMorph (The GraphWrapper implementation seems not to work in 3.2, and http://mathmorphs.swiki.net/44 - GraphAlgorihtms.zip is unavailable :-() - Connector-Morph (It's not truly an implementation of Collection-Graph, but it can be use to display a Graph, with MorphicWrapper). - T-Gen implements a Collection-Graph too, but the implementation is oriented parsing... - Arrow implements a Graph, with a new and original manner, I have to see if it's possible to encapsulate the common abstraction of graphs (I mean nodes, edges...). Do you know others implementations ? Hello again, here's a simpler description of the modules I presented in my previous email. A module is an object that introduces new objects and specifies changes to existing objects in imported modules. When a module is linked its changes are applied to the existing objects. When a module is unlinked its changes are undone. A module is automatically linked when a process that has the module in its environment becomes active. Process has a new instance variable called environment that points to a module. A module is IN an environment iff the environment directly or indirectly imports the module. A module is automatically unlinked when a process that does NOT have the module in its environment becomes active. Pointers that cross module boundaries are converted to identifiers when unlinked and converted back to pointers when linked. For example, a class Foo introduced in ModuleB may have its superclass Bar introduced in ModuleA, an import of ModuleB. When ModuleB is unlinked, Foo's superclass will contain the identifier #Bar. When it is linked back it will contain the class Bar. If there is no global pointing directly to Bar, its identifier will specify a path to Bar from a global, for example #Classes.Bar. Modules only deal with objects and identifiers and is independent of any class (or classless) structure. Thanks, Anthony

hi all 3.4b-5156 can't load a project correctly that has JPEG SketchMorph. 1) create a new project and enter. 2) drop the jpeg file on the world. (*1; published.jpg) 3) publish it. 4) load that project. (*2; afterLoading.jpg) It is never occurred at Squeak3.4b-5138, Squeak3.2-4956, Squeak3.2-4917 images. *** Squeak3.4b-5156 image only *** It seems to be exchanged a form stub and the right bits. [WinCE] Release candidate VM for PocketPC (iPAQ)

Hello, I finally have got enough traction:-) to revise the VM for PocketPC. The most notable feature of the new VM is that the ability to set the heap size and the external backing store memory size upon startup. While the VM works fine for me on iPAQ 3955 (PocketPC 2002), I can't test the VM on the other flavor of iPAQs. If you have some other iPAQ, please test the VM on yours and let me know how it goes. Also, if you have suggestions on the memory setting screen layout and the english, please let me know. The "release candidate" VM is at: http://www.is.titech.ac.jp/~ohshima/tmp/SqueakWithMemorySlider.zip I found the display update gets slower on 3955 than 36xx. This may be because the LCD is different, but may be my note is wrong. So, please test the following tests and let me know the number. NetNameResolver timeout

Hi! I just wanted to load the PackageLoader. The somehow, the name couldn't be resolved (I think that's my fault). But: NetNameResolver class>>addressForName:timeout: should timeout after five seconds (the given time out from the SqueakMap load script), but I think it doesn't care for this timeout; it seems that NetNameResolver waiting for the name of 'map1.squeakfoundation.org' after a longer period of time (on Windows). Could anyone reproduce this behavior, or do I understand the meaning of "timeout" wrong? NetNameResolver addressForName: 'asd.afdsahw.de' timeout: 5 does not raise an error or return after five seconds here. Regards, Markus -- http://reauktion.de/archer/
