A method comment says "Returns a Frammis", and you can't bring up Frammis because its in a comment, not part of the parse-tree. Or, you are typing code outside of any method-context (i.e., workspace, Transcript or TextMorph) and suddenly none of the ecompletion tools work. Unlike current Squeak, it becomes more like eclipse, inconsistent and "modal". Simple string-parsing, combined with Kent Beck's "Type-suggesting Parameter Name" practice, has served me so well over the years, the above-examples all work great. With just a few lines of code, I'm now able to select, for example, "aCollection" to bring up Collection, "inputFileStream" to bring up FileStream, regardless whether I have a method-context or not. Maybe a combination; i.e., use the parse-tree if you have one but String interpretation if you don't or no results from the parse-tree.. - Chris

[MorphicWrappers] First fix for 3.7

For the few MorphicWrappers enthusiasts. Here the first fix for 3.7 to last port by Francisco Garau labelled 3.6 compatible. With this you could copy text external to image (in my case I copy the text from another running image) and pressing TAB (what start "aerial mode") you could paste via Clipboard and work as designed by Luciano and Gerardo (I hope) If someone have a copy of any Mac video recording software what I could use for doing the tutorials, send email to me off list. Hi all Romain gave me a presentation of his enhancements and they are REALLLLLLLLY cool. For example we can start to code a method in the middle of doing it doubleclick on a word in the text and jump in the implementors then go back (without having lost the code we were typing). by simply double clicking on a symbol in a method text we can jump into the senders, implementers... I asked romain to do a video. I really think that what he is doing is important for the improvement of the usability of the environment. So try and give feedback to romain. We could get a really cool environment with his extensions, shout, eCompletion, RoelTyper. In addition to profit, we should also consider the ad-impact of the items on the street. A button is lamo when compared to a shirt.. Why not have one big logo and one small (I'd buy both). I'd be proud to drink from a Squeak coffee mug at the office.. :) > I prefer a nicer shirt with a small logo. Squeak in Japanese

Hello, I will make a conference tour in Taiwan and I would like to show Squeak running with Asian language, I know there are good achievement in Japanese, so I would like to add to my 3.8 image (a standard one) the necessary components (I guess font and translation file) to get it in Japanese. The short answer to the question below is that I'm new to Smalltalk, let alone the Squeak project, so don't know how things are done. Here's my attempt to do as suggested: I have attached a file "snelgar. 1.cs" that looks to have in it: 1) Complex methods for arcCos, arcSin, arcTan closeTo: ln and sqrt a) note that I added a definition for "closeTo:", largely copied from that for Float. It's handy for testing. 2) ComplexTest methods for testArcCos, testArcSin, testArcTan, testLn and testSqrt. a) I also hacked testEquality, see below 3) "=" in Float and Integer. That's because in 3.8 as shipped, the following non-intuitive behaviour occurs: 3 = (3 + 0 i) -> false (3 + 0 i) = 3 -> true this messed up my testing, and was sure to mess up actual application of Complex. a) the main hazard here is that Complex numbers fail "isNumber", which I gather was a strategic implementation choice because ">" is odd to define for Complex. Me, I would have expected Complex to be a Number, and overridden a > b to be an error if imaginary ~= 0, else (a real) > b real I ran the ComplexTest, FloatTest and IntegerTest suites, and they pass. There's also a bunch of mysterious looking stuff in the cs file that I don't understand (e.g. MCMockClassD methodsFor:). I don't dare touch it. Hi Emilio, I don't quite understand what you mean ... the behavior I have for now is to both select the word and attempt to navigate, which deselects the word sometimes. Just by reading your mail, I was thinking of doing navigation by triple-clicking (was that what you meant btw?), which could maybe be doable. Would everyone (Tim?) find that ok. I don't think Squeak can do triple- click to select a line or paragraph (and can't check because my double-click is modified ;-) ).
