By the way, the Japanese calendar in last 100 year or so uses the same day and month as the Gregorian's, but the years are counted differently. If someone is writing an application that will be used by a financial institution or a school or such, it should handle that. For example, today (Apr 26th, 2006) is 18th year of Heisei, 4th month, 26th day, but 20 years ago was 61st year of Showa, 4th month, 26th day. -- Yoshiki

New SqueakMap on the air... and we got problems Houston!

Howdy! Ok, now its 2:12 AM and I gotta get up in about 4.5 hours. I have now upgraded SM and AFAICT it seems to be working ok with 3.8 and 3.9 clients. It still (forgot to add code for that - perhaps we can still do it) fails if you already have an old map in the "sm" dir and fires up a fresh image and try to open the loader. But you can then either delete the map-files in the sm dir (no need to nuke the whole dir and thus the cache) and try again or simply execute manually: SMSqueakMap bootStrap That is meant to install the latest SM into the image. :) Now, obviously with a 3.6-7 image we stumble on ByteSymbol, ByteString when loading the ImageSegment - this is why 3.6, 3.7 Squeaks can't cope with the new map. Sigh. So... anyone got a bright idea or should we just suck it up and declare SM to be 3.8+ country? Time to move to a Magma solution? Though it still seems awkward to demand Magma client in all SM enabled images. :) Or perhaps we could just use a good ole SmartRefStream? I dunno, eyes are dried up by now. And no, I haven't bothered with SMLoader yet - but that is easy compared to the rest.

VMMaker work on win32 ?

Board communication (was RE: Looking for good souls)

MethodWrappers for 3.9

Hi, I have uploaded a new MC package version of MethodWrappers fixed to work with 3.9 in the MC HTTP repository for the codeCoverage project. To download it from MC: MCHttpRepository location: 'http://www.squeaksource.com/codeCoverage' user: '' password: '' And then install Compiler-DF.5.mcz and MethodWrappers-DF.7.mcz Changes: MethodWrappers -All sends to #tempNameCache: was removed -MwMethodWrapper implements #asClassDescription to store a correct definition of the class in Monticello -MwMethodWrapper>>#tempNameCahe: removed -The extension of MethodNode was removed. I found that google groups has a much better web interface than gmane. Threads are neatly presented and, if set up correctly, you can post from the web. I would love to be able to follow the squeak list from google groups. Take a look at how comp.lang.smalltalk or a private list looks like: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.smalltalk http://groups.google.com/group/clubSmalltalk The second one is in spanish.
