The bug report for 6449 includes a changeset which fixes SMDefaultInstaller, so that it now loads Telnet ok from SqueakMap. Unfortunately, Telnet itself seems to be broken due to some Font details.
The Telnet package was written quite some time ago, and it might well need some updating for newer Squeak images.
