I tend to agree. It's not that the board is unable to perform now that
one member has left. Holding an election is a lot of work, not the
mechanics per se, but getting everyone to vote etcetera :-)

An alternative: ask the first runner-up of the previous elections to join.

It's probably "documented" in some mailing list archive, but the idea
was to hold elections every year around the same time, which would be
February...
