Swiki pollution...

Hi all!

Ok guys, what are we going to do with all the "pollution" on the Swiki?

And now I am NOT talking about MP3 uploads etc - that is actually a
rather harmless problem, I am talking about clueless people using it for
completely other things than Squeak:

http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/2583

(This one I sortof stumbled over because of the name...)

Personally I think I am all in favour of closing down the whole swiki
with a password for changing pages and let that password be known on
this Swiki or something.

The exact arrangements are of course discussable, whatever works. But
all these pages not related to Squeak should IMHO be removed and we can
simply place a big sign on the frontpage saying:

"Sorry all noninvited inhabitants, your pages not relateed to Squeak are
not welcome here please go to xxx, yyy or zzz to get your free Swiki
space." (whatever xxx, yyy, zzz ma be)

It all started with Nation 1 I believe (I was annoyed even then but let
it pass) and I think they where invited or something, so no shame on
them. But I really think we need to clean this up now.

The Swiki is THE most important source of persistent documentation on
Squeak that is not inside the image. We should take better care of it.
Btw, shame we can't currently easily remove pages - we are actually
thinking of adding that capability for our own internal Swiki.

Just my own thoughts, fire away at will.

regards, Göran
