Connectors 2 missing morphs?

Just tried playing with moving NetModel to the new Connectors 2 and ran into a little difficulty. I started with 3.7 image updated through the "final" update and with the Squeakmap 2 stuff loaded. Then installed Connectors 2, which worked okay. Then I loaded in a changeset with the guts of NetModel in it. I thought I could just patch up the classes to subclass from whatever new classes were appropriate in Connectors 2, but from looking at Connectors 2, it seems that the original ones should still be there, but they're not. The specific classes that seem to be missing are NCConnectorMorph and NCSketchMorph. Those are the ones that NetModel inherits from, but there could be others missing. I'm guessing that if I install Connectors 1 and then install Connectors 2 on top of it that everything would work, but that's just a guess. How to use SmartRefStream

Hi: I've a model with only one instance in the image and I backup this model with: | rr | rr := SmartRefStream fileNamed: 'MyModel.obj'. rr nextPut: MyModel someInstance. rr close. But I can't figure out how to read again inside the image, I've tried, between several attempts,: | rr | rr := SmartRefStream fileNamed: 'MyModel.obj'. MyModel allInstances do: [:each1 | each1 := rr next]. rr close. I'm sure that I've only one instance in the model (worked with Seaside and Mewa) but I can't figure out how to recover the data in the file 'MyModel.obj' to rebuild my objects in the image. The previous MyModel allInstances do: [:each1 | each1 := rr next] fails with 'attempt to index non-existent element in an ordered collection'. I can't imagine how to replace the "data" of my live instance of MyModel with the data saved in the external file "MyModel.obj". Any help will be appreciated. gsa.

[BUG] SystemChangeNotifier notifies twice the same event.

To reproduce the bug do the following: - Modify, for instance, ChangeSet>>event: to show in the Transcript the event. (The attached fileout does it). - Open a Transcript. - Modify any method. You'll see twice the same event on Transcript. Any idea how to resolve it? Cheers, -- Diego

[UPDATES] 11 for Squeak3.8alpha

These updates for 3.8alpha are all of the updates copied over from the 3.7gamma stream. Ned & I determined that there weren't any real conflicts between these updates and the m17n changes, so I'm just adding them to the 3.8alpha stream before m17n goes in. (There are just a few redundant updates in m17n which could be removed now.) This will make it easier for someone to upgrade from a 3.7 final image to a 3.8alpha image. Also, we'll be able to base Bruce's 3.8alpha images uploaded to the ftp site on 3.7 (so the welcome window & content is reasonably up to date)... right now they're based on 3.5 which is pretty old. - Doug ------------------------------ 5977DefaultChangeSetName-nk -- Ned Konz -- 18 July 2004 Fixes a problem on the mac where the change set file out doesn't auto-number correctly. 5978ViewerFontFixes-nk -- Ned Konz -- 12 July 2004 v2: fixed a typo in the postscript (md). This change set adds a guard in NewParagraph to avoid the problems caused by the (uncommon) case of a paragraph with inconsistent state. 5980TTCFontSizeRepair-nk -- Ned Konz -- 18 July 2004 The changes to the TTCFonts done in CS 5923PSPointSizeFix-nk didn't clear out the derivative fonts cache. This left some fonts with a discrepancy between the size of the regular and bold derivatives. Where this is noticeable is where you had a default font (perhaps the window title font or the etoys font) set to a TTCFont (like ComicSansMS). This CS forces the TTCFonts with bad derivative sizes to rebuild themselves. This fixes a problem with the distribution image and also makes the old windows look better. It cures the problem that we've seen with bad flap and window title bar layout with some TTCFonts. Then it does what it can to update all the users of those fonts. As a side effect, it updates the buttons of old windows like the ones in the distribution image. It also fixes AbstractFont>>textStyle to always answer a TextStyle, even if we have to create a new one. help build a stable universe

Let's put together a stable package universe for 3.7, and see how it goes! I think seeing Universes in action, even under a rushed release schedule, would let people see why I think package universes are a good artifact for us to develop and to rally around. A stable 3.7 universe would be a good starting point for users who want to play with Squeak, and it would be a good basis for people building software on top of Squeak; in both cases, users value stability over having the newest software. I have now created an initial universe to try out, but it needs your help in order to get the rough edges smoothed off. If you have a package that you would like to be available in this stable universe, then please check on it as follows: 1. Install Universes 0.3 from squeakmap (don't get 0.2!). 2. Execute the following command: UUniverse switchSystemToUniverse: UUniverse squeak37Universe 3. "open" a Universes Browser 4. "update list" to get the current list of packages. 5. Scan for your package If the entry for your package looks okay, then great! If there is a problem, then you can fix it as follows: 1. "open" a Universes Editor. 2. Enter a password for yourself in the password field, and click "create account". 3. Select either "new package" (if your package is outright missing) or "new package version" (if your package entry just needs some tweaking). 4. Update the fields as you desire and press "submit". IN TWO WEEKS I will freeze this universe and close down edits, thus making it a "stable" universe. So don't daudle, lest a broken package of yours become enshrined for months. Lex

This change set modifies the WeakActionSequenceTrappingErrors to ignore Notifications. "!

Squeak & Linucon?

Greetings, I respectfully request information on what programs or materials you may have available with regard to promoting Squeak through user groups and events. I am involved with the upcoming Linucon (www.linucon.org) here in Austin Oct 8-10. I am involved in a group called Hangar 18 (open-forge.com/hangar18) what is promoting Open Source operating systems and environments (eg MSWLogo). Our intention is to have systems running Linux, Plan 9, Inferno, Squeak, MSWLogo, SkyOS, & Unununium. It is my hope that you may be able to provide some sort of 'official' printed material, mouse pads, etc. in order to promote Squeak. Thank you for taking the time to consider my suggestion/request. The most visible is a correct color mapping when running Squeak in 16 bit color but having the computer monitor in 32bit (millions). Also I've altered both the os-9 version and the os-x version to swallow the window click when clicking on the squeak window when it is the background window. This enables you to bring the squeak window to the foreground but not trigger a mouse down/up in the squeak window. Please check the os-x and classic version and if there are no issues we'll post to the usual ftp servers in a few days. Lastly please note because of VMMaker work this and I believe 3.7.4 are faster so if you are using a 3.6.x VM you should consider upgrading. sqMacWindow.c Prework for multiple window support, use getSTWindow() call versus stWindow. Use lookup table to properly map 5bit color space to 8bit color space. Some crummy code was introduced in 3.6.1b3 which did a poor job of color space transformation (16->32bit). sqMacExternalPrims.c Alter load logic to use kCFURLPOSIXPathStyle path name versus hfs path name. Alter load logic for frameworks to look in User, Network, Local, System domains for framework, before we would only look in the System domain. This allows frameworks at the user domain scope.
