That's odd; I am not noticing that. I went through some pains to make sure that there was no movement upon deletion. I have a very-updated 2.9a image, though.
When the playfield sends "ownerChanged", I'm looking to see if the connected Morphs are still valid to be connected to. If they aren't, I'm clearing those instvars.
Tell me what version of Squeak you're using, and how you're testing this.
No playfield, just the PasteUpMorph...

PasteUpMorph == playfield, as far as I can tell. (Morphic world and "Playfield" have same behavior).
