The short answer is that you can displayed messages sorted based on the displayed message information. The selected messages are always displayed in cronological order.
I actually don't miss the column based sorting much (this is not always true though, and it would be nice to have in Celeste). Using the Subject and Participant filter, I can quickly find most historical messages with ease. A neat trick you can play is to also use the custom filter to select the messages you want. For instance, to display the messages which are greater than 100kb, create a custom filter that uses m textLength > 100000 And obviously that can be combined with the Subject and Participant filter.

Yes. Filters really rock. People, please try to learn a little Celeste-Do before assuming that it should be just like other mail readers. If you want mutt, then by all means use mutt.
With my filters patch, you can even have multiple filters of each kind -- now multiple categories becomes a truly useful feature. "show me sent messages to the squeak list" is extremely easy.
