I just carefully categorized the changes for additions to a bunch of basic classes so that all my changes are in a category with the same name. The changes go in a bunch of system classes including Object, Collection, Boolean, etc. (These are purely additions; there are no replacement methods.)
I then filed out the change set, which files out updates to some 20 classes, and of course it filed out code to completely replace all categories for all methods in each of the classes rather than just adding my new one.
As soon as I saw what it did I knew that I knew it would do that!
But is sure isn't what I wanted and I don't see any way around. I want to categorize my new stuff. I want someone else to be able to file it into some version of Squeak that is not identical to mine. In theory the file-in could run across a wide spectrum of versions.
There seems to be no way to do that. Am I missing something (obvious)? or is this a possible requirement for an improved change management system?
