I'm new to squeak (I used Smalltalk/V a bit years ago) and I have a pretty basic question: what method of what class do I use to use the "File in" dialog box? I searched SqueakV2.sources and Squeak2.8.changes for the string "Select a File" with no luck. Is there some trick I'm missing to find the source of basic Squeak UI?
Bob,
Just:
- type Select a file in a workspace.
- select the text - control-e and (in 2.8) you will see 5 methods that contain this string.

How would I have known about ctrl-e?
Is there something I can ask about all the bound events (like an Emacs M-x describe-bindings)?
Is there some place that this is set up?
It's not in the "help menu" under "command key help".

Well, not control-E, but alt-shift-E (they may be the same on some machines) is documented:
Upper case command Keys
E Method strings containing it
