I also have the blue 85 version on my shelf here, bought used at Powell's
in 92 (along with the orange book).

I might be misremembering, but I think I was looking at a *draft* of
the blue book in late 82/early 83 while playing with the Magnolia at
Tektronix.  I know I was walking through some well-written text to
learn about this wonderous new toy in front of me.  And I'm sure I had
a copy of the blue book while at ServioLogic in late 83/early 84.  I
was a motivating force to get ServioLogic (later GemStone) to switch
from a "smalltalk-like" language to "real" Smalltalk.
