need a SqueakElib Chat Server machine

I have gotten to a good stopping place before the holidays, here. I have finished developing a Chat system in SqueakElib, both point-2-point and multiway, and of course it is fully encrypted. There is a server which allows anyone to connect into the system and a client which I will distribute later, over the web page. I am looking for someone who can donate a server machine which can run a squeak image and about 15 minutes to set it up with me. The server will recalculate it's connection url and I will need to get that into the clients. If someone has access to a machine that could host me, please let me know. thank you, Rob

Following http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/squeak-dev/2007-November/122283… Just a warning at those using patches from - http://bugs.squeak.org/view.php?id=3574 (WideCharacterSet) - http://bugs.squeak.org/view.php?id=3574 (CharacterSetComplements) These patches solved some bug but introduced new ones: - incorrect #remove: (a period lacking end of sentence) - incorrect #hash (bitXOr: with capital o) - incorrect #hash again (self map unimplemented) So please find corresponding patches recently uploaded on Mantis. ------------------------------------------- Patches going into production images should: - be reviewed (these were, but bugs were not obvious) - be tested in ad-hoc images (these were but only for bugs they solved) - be fully covered by tests Obviously, third item is not met! Not enough tests written! Anyone has a TestCoverage tool usable (production-ready) in Squeak? Nicolas

bug? 3.9 & 3.8 - saving changes file

Hi, Ran into a strange error and then I was able to reproduce it. Running Mac OS X 10.4.10 on Intel with VM 3.8.18beta1U. Repeated error on 3.8-6665 as well. I have a feeling you all already know about this and will chuckle at me. Here are the steps. - Open up an image. - Make some change, like typing text into a Workspace - In Finder, rename the folder the image is in - Quit, do not save Resulting error: "Error: a primitive has failed" ... Stack: MultiByteFileStream(Object)>>error: MultiByteFileStream(Object)>>primitiveFailed MultiByteFileStream(StandardFileStream)>>primSize: MultiByteFileStream(StandardFileStream)>>size Now obviously it is trying to write to the .changes file but the .changes file is in a folder that has been renamed. Maybe this error should be handled more gracefully, though. Debugging this and making a change (replacing an underscore with a ':=' ) actually brought me to a Big Bad System-Error-Handling-Failed Emergency Evaluator. *Also*, it becomes impossible to quit Squeak even though everything seems to be running fine... one cannot Quit And Save, nor can one Quit Without Saving! Catch-22. Hope maybe this is something that someone is interested in. If not, sorry. Thanks, Tim

To who own or maintain Keymap. When trying to load into Squeak3.10.1beta.7155.image I have the attached error. I add a fix working for me. And don't said I should do a Mantis report, as I know I should. Think I must make the cake, sell and eat too ? :=) Edgar

How can I open a SystemWindow with a certain extent?

I have a subclass of SystemWindow which I am trying to open with a specific extent. I have a buildWindow method that adds all my widgetry and I have a line of code like: self extent: 20 @ 50. When it opens, this extent isn't respected. How can I do this? thanks, Rob

Oracle-Client in Squeak

Hi folks, in my daily environment I have to deal with data from an oracle-database. So I get the data for my own purposes via ODBC based on FFI. Because of blocking the whole image by calling an external function via FFI I have the problem to use the odbc for more users on the same image. The user story behind all is to get and put some data from and to the database by using seaside. Is there anybody who is in the same situation? The best solution in my opinion is to write a pluggin. This is where my problems start. I see the way but I'm not experienced to write such things. So I'm searching somebody who also need these things and is willing to give it a try. Cheers, Frank

Verious fixes for squeak-dev and squeak-web images

Hi, there are some fixes available for the squeak-dev/-web images. They are available from the Universe. - OB-Enhancements (by David Röthlisberger): - It's now possible to add new monticello packages from anywhere in the first pane of the browser - debugger appeared when right-clicking on the definition pane - a class creation template is displayed by default when a package is selected - Shout + OmniBrowser (by Andrew Tween): - This fix prevents characters from appearing in the wrong order, especially when typing quickly and with large fonts e.g. in demo mode - Pier (by Lukas Renggli): - The editor tool bar is now visible To upgrade your already existing squeak-dev/-web image: 1) World menu->open...->Package Universe Browser 2) Update list from network 3) Select all upgrades 4) Install selection -- Damien Cassou

CustomOffice idea

Folks: When I try to load old (or not so old) things in Squeak for see if could go to FunSqueak, often I have all kinds of nasty collateral effects. Thanks to Jerome, I reviewing for doing FunSqueak more safe and eventually have a separate .sar for put in Universes as Ralph says . Could we have some CustomOffice package for quick tell us if foreign visitors to our beloved .image could be trouble makers to peace ? Comes to mind don't let Undeclared, don't let use classes not in the image and not in the package... I have open ears and eyes for any suggestion and help. Edgar
