Use ResEdit or somesuch to change the image's type to 'STim' and creator to 'FAST'. Cheers, Bob

[BUG][UNIX] 2.8pre3 display depth of 32 doesn't work.

In the 2.8pre3 version (rpm called Squeak-2.8-3) from Ian Piumarta's site, the display depth of 32 doesn't work. Changing to 32 bpp causes the screen to go black. This works in the other images I'm using (compiled from Sourceforge). Changing to 16bpp works. I ported Oshima-san's Multilingualized Squeak in Squeak 2.7 by cooperation of Sumi-san. By this, I got possible to send and receive Japanese emails with Celeste. In addition, I got possible to read Japanese, Korean and Chinese web pages with Scamper by using hack of Monaka-san. These work with my Compaq Aero 2100(Palm-sized PC, WindowsCE 2.11, MIPS 70MHz, 16MB RAM). And I ported Multilingualized Squeak in Squeak 2.8 recently.(It will be introduced by Oshima-san's web page at an early date.) It works with 2.8 VM comfortably, but is very slow in 2.7 VM of SqueakCE. Probably a lot of primitive methods fails. Sigh. The plan was to fix up some little issues and put out release VMs by or before mid-august (basically before SIGGRAPH). Was then moved back due to too much other stuff and after Ian's new VMs were out I was hoping to find just a little time to also adjust it to his directory structure (which is superior to anything we have these days). And I still haven't even gotten around to do those little fixes yet. And considering what's up next here I'm somewhat doubting that there will be any development very soon. Perhaps it's time to give up the Win32 VM maintenance to people who have a bit of time for it. Anyone interested in taking over?! Uhm. It _has_ been awhile since I had time to do much, so I went and dl'd the completely updated image and current beta VM. I find that (on my Mac) I can not drag and drop the Image onto the VM. Is this common or did I screw up along the way? Thanks! William

Hi! Is there a way (and how) from within squeak to load a second .image file and the tell the VM to stop interpreting the former image and start interpreting the new? Easy question... tough answer? [BUG] Projects with Wonderlands

I tried again to create a Wonderland and save it as a project. In so doing, I discovered two bugs, the first of which is probably easily fixed, and the other may not be: - I had set my project to a window depth of 16. When you publish a project now, it also saves a GIF thumbnail. I got an error that GIF can't handle more than 256 colors. - I did get a Wonderland-containing project to publish (hooray! no more errors about contexts!), but when I tried to file it in ("load as project" from FileList), the project got created, I saw the right thumbnail, and the all of Squeak froze. Command-period wouldn't bring up an error box -- I had to Quit from the menubar.
