I did everything in order as suggested there (several times - with freshly downloaded 3.2s from queak.org), but recall errors inevitably popping up anywhere between update step 1 and 3 or somewhere in the process of updating from Squeak Public Updates. I will try again from scratch and see what happens. [Q] any known AMD issues?

I am now using a new machine and have run into many problems getting Squeak to run as it did on my last (P4 933mhz 128 RAM) machine. I am wondering if there are any known AMD issues. Everything else I normally use regularly (audio/video/graphics/etc apps) work FINE on this machine. VW7 and STX also work as usual. I suppose this is most specific to VI4, since that is what I was using on my last machine and want to keep using. On those lines, I FINALLY got VI4-3.4Beta5156.image to work after nearly giving up... Also, I get errors galore when trying to use SM that I never got on the P4 machine. AMD Athlon 1.3 mhz 384 MB RAM Win98SE Suppose I should mention that I have reformatted HD several times and have latest Norton Antivirus updates saying all is OK in that area. Looks like the same general idea, but I can assure you they're not related. The entire exobox project is sitting on about 6 DLT tapes in a box in my home office. Various models might work. For a project that must include special UI code (and since we don't want to contaminate the explorer image), it might come up with it's own GUI, with the explorer image still be able to connect to it, debug it, so forth. I'm still thinking what a good connection mechanism would be. Maybe something relatively high level like Jabber. As long as you don't try to push too many bits too often, performance wouldn't matter much, and it might provide a nice model for connecting to images sometimes living, sometimes not.
