[Newbie Q] getting the selection from TextMorph

Hi all, I'm trying to get the selected test from the TextMorph of PluggableTextMorph and I think I'm using overkill. Is there an easy way. I've looked at all the messages in PluggableTextMorph, TextMorph and TextMorphEditor and didn't really see anything. Any easy way. Thanks, Steve

inlining methods in slang

Hi! I'm writing a xvid plugin and have the following problem. I to make the plugin code more readable I wrote a small method that should be inlined into the c-code whenever it is called: insert: color into: output at: offset | intColor | intColor _ self cCoerce: color to: 'int'. output at: offset put: (0 max: (255 min: intColor)) That works. But in addition the generator outputs code for the method itself. But that code does not compile because the generator generates code with output as an int var. Now declaring outpus as a pointer like: insert: color into: output at: offset | intColor | self var: #output type: 'unsigned char*'. intColor _ self cCoerce: color to: 'int'. output at: offset put: (0 max: (255 min: intColor)) does help, but now the method is not inlined any more. Even forcing inlining using self inline: true does not help. Martin

gmane.org is a non-profit service which mirrors mailing lists as newsgroups with an excellent user interface. I posted http://joyful.com/SqueakLists a while back with the goal of making better use of this for the Squeak community. Not all squeak lists belong on gmane, but IMHO any with public archives containing useful content do, if someone cares enough to request it, and that it's not necessary to clear this with every list owner first. I'm posting this short discussion from #squeak with Ken's permission to explain further, raise awareness and give people another chance to opine against it for particular lists. I'm moving the SqP site. The data has been transported, and everything on the old site has been set to read-only, so if you get errors while making updates to SqP, you know you're still talking to the old stuff ;-).

hi guys we have a problem (again this bug in Squeak SmallWiki) and lukas would need to access the image, but right now nobody knows the password to access to the machine via VNC. So can someone send to lukas this information. Second this clearly identify a problem: how this is possible that we do not have a group of people backing up this information...A job for Squeak foundation (if it ever exist). Stef

Have you tried 'BEGIN;' or 'BEGIN TRANSACTION' ? Are you using ODBC and if so, which MySQL ODBC driver? What version of MySQL? Are you using InnoDB tables or MyISAM ? Hi all. I'm trying to do queries from a Squeak application (Image 3.7 #5989) against a MySQL database (v4.0.24; InnoDB tables), using the MySQL driver (v1.12 from SqueakMap). Normal queries work fine, for a couple of examples: statement executeQuery: 'INSERT INTO person (fName, lName) VALUES (''Bob'', 'Marley''), (''Bruce'', ''Springsteen''), (''Jennifer'', ''Lopez'')'. resultSet := statement executeQuery: 'SELECT * FROM website'. However, I would also like to to transactions. I thought it would work to do something like bracketing a series of queries with: statement executeQuery: 'BEGIN'. <--various other queries--> statement executeQuery: 'COMMIT'. Unfortunately, this does not work. I get the message: Error: Invalid Query: BEGIN AFAICSee, my query is parsed, and when the word 'COMMIT' does not appear in the Dictionary initialized from JdmStatement:mysqlQueries, then an error is thrown. So I just added lines for "BEGIN", "COMMIT" and "ROLLBACK" to that array. No-go. There is a further problem that aQuery, when validated by queryInfoFor:, returns [nil], which causes another error. 7th NODe Young Researchers Workshop 2005 In conjunction with Net.ObjectDays 2005 Call for Papers This call is of special interest to people who have recently started their career in the area of object-oriented and internet-based tech- nologies, concepts, and applications (the "young researchers"). We would like to encourage contributions from PhD students, post-docs, and practitioners in industry. The topics of the workshop are: Software Reusability Domain Engineering and Software Product Lines Object-oriented technologies and concepts Architecture-centric development Component-based approaches Agile Processes and Agile Modeling Generic Programming Model Driven Architecture Software Patterns and Frameworks Software Quality and Testing Generative Programming Aims and Objectives As a successor of the 2004 NODe Young Researchers Workshops (see the 6th NODe Young Researchers Workshop website) this workshop which is traditionally held in conjunction with the Net.ObjectDays aims again at providing a platform for young international researchers to present their work. The presentations will be commented by experienced panelists. The workshop serves as a forum for the participants to get in contact with other researchers in the field and to become familiar with other approaches and future research topics. Authors of accepted papers re- ceive feedback and hints on their research in a constructive and international atmosphere. Submission Guidelines Potential participants are asked to submit a short paper in English. It must be no longer than 2500 words or five pages (including figures, tables, and references). Format the paper according to the LNCS style (for the formatting details see "Information for LNCS Authors") and submit your paper in either Postscript format or PDF. The submission should be classified according to the progress of the work, e.g. third year's PhD work. All submitted papers will undergo a review process by a panel of renowned experts. All accepted papers will be published as downloadable versions on the home page of the 7th NODe Young Researchers Workshop 2005; they will also be included in the NODe conference pro- ceedings. The number of accepted papers is limited to ten. D-Bus cross-language IPC bindings for Squeak?

Hello all, I'm looking at D-Bus (http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/dbus) as a nice way to interface Squeak/Croquet with python/C++/etc. objects in other processes. Has anyone done any work on making Squeak bindings? There currently exist 'fairly good' python bindings (according to the docs). thanks, Daniel Faken
