[MC] How to get diff: a typical scenario

avi, bert here is a typical scenario: I wanted to know what were the other changes that were introduced in the same time that at:put: changes. For now I only want that in one package but you can imagine that for the image management in the future knowing what other packages is related will be important (now with marcus we put the same comment in all the packages concerned by a "slice" a group of changes related but touching different packages. So let us go back to my simple scenario: I wanted to know the changes (the delta) that Collections-md.20 in the 3.9alpha introduced compared to Collections-md.19. So I selected Collections-md.20.mc from the repository, press diff I got a version: Collection-md.20 (diff against Collection-md19) - Browse shows me everything so did not help. - Changes shows me only the difference but I'm surprised since I do not see Dictionary>>isDictionary and Dictionary>>at:put: which I can see when I browse the cs in the dual change sorter in Collections-md.20 cs So what am I doing wrong? Hi all I cannot find anymore the email where it was mentioned that Morphic got a slow down after refactoring some == nil into isNil or related. I would like to know whether a cs has been made that I look at it for 3.9a. Stef

Merge tool of MC

hi I would like to understand how the merge tool works. When I do merge I get a list of changes, some of them are marked changed Then I do not understand the keep and reject buttons. If I select an item and press reject nothing happens, should the selected item be underlined, crossed? How do I know the ones that I reject or keep? Stef

Pending mac carbon VM 3.8.9b1

I've published a zip file for mac carbon VM 3.8.9b1 on my idisk http://homepage.mac.com/johnmci/FileSharing.html This VM includes these two changes: sqMacWindow.c Altered ioFullScreen logic to avoid problems if you do full screen on twice or more, then full screen off. Bug was the window would be positioned at 0 & 0 and you could not grab it in order to move it. sqMacUIAppleEvents.c Add logic to launch new shell script via apple script to startup same executable with given image on an open doc request. This allows us to double-click on an image when a squeak VM is running and have another VM start to process that image. If for example you double click on one or more image files you will get one or more Squeak VM running, same applies if you drag and drop multiple images onto a 3.8.9b1 Squeak VM if no other VM is running. I will note that if you drag and drop a image file into a running squeak window it still will just open a text file reader on the image per the Smalltalk code that handles drag and drop for squeak image files. -- ======================================================================== === John M. [ANN] new version of services available for preview

Hi, I just released two packages on squeakmap for further testing: - Services-All contains several packages related to services grouped together for convenient downloads: -- Services-Base should go into the image at one point -- Services-RB is the refactorings services -- Services-Keymapping provide keyboard shortcuts for services -- Services-IDE provides a few nifty features describe later - BrowseUnit has been updated to use the new version of the Services framework. This new version of services provides: - A cleaner way to define and register services, by subclassing a ServiceProvider class - Possibilities to add services in button bars such as in browsers - Better update mechanism, allowing menus and button bars to be dynamically changed (no need to open a new Browser when you install BrowseUnit for example) - Better support for disabled services in menus (they are grayed out) - Possibilities to enable or disable set of services in the Preferences On to the nifty IDE features ;-) : - Histories in browsers, inspired by Alain Plantec's add on. The differences are: -- no additional instance variable in browser -- triggered by keyboard shortcut (apple-[ and apple-] on the mac, the alt key for windows or linux) -- histories in message lists (apple-{ and } ) as well - An hypertext mechanism: double-click on a code entity (variable, message send), to be transported here. combined with histories, it makes the class browser really feel like a web browser. - Possibility of leaving unnaccepted methods, and restoring them later, which improves the browsing experience as well -Senders, implementors ... can be restricted to the image, package or hierarchy levels -There is a teleporting device ;-) : press apple-t or alt-t, enter some text, press enter, and you will be teleported where you wanted... Here are some examples: -- enter "ord.col" to browse the OrderedCollection class. -- enter "do:" to browse the implementors of do: -- enter "ord.col do:' to browse OrderedCollection>>#do: --enter "h" to get further help. This was inspired by some Mac utilities such as Quicksilver or Launchbar, only much more limited ;-) So I encourage you to try this out, and send me feedback about what doesn't work and what should be improved...
