Option number 2 is what I used in the MockTurtle demo. This project only used a code editor in the local proxy instead of tile scripting, and when the edit was accepted the script text was first locally syntax checked and then sent to the associated replicated object. This was actually lots of fun, but needed to have some "future"s handcoded in the edited source as I recall. Some keystrokes in the harness directed to the target replicated object caused editing or script execution to start. In my isolated testing, this worked just fine. Cheers, Dave

Bootstrap logic in recent Tweak-Core (?)

Hello, It seems to be, that bootstrap logic does not work anymore in new Tweak-Core package, running on top of Squeak 4.1 For example: "CWorldPlayer run" fails, as CWorldPlayer instance could not be properly initialized. What could be the problem with this? Thanks for any insights Nikolay

Not sure what the junk below on the commit diff is; it all looks familiar and faintly cog-related though. Do we have the dirty-inbox problem again? AFAIK I only touched three comments in this commit. UserInputEvent wasHandled flag

In Morph>>#handleMouseDown:, it sets the wasHandled: flag of the incoming Event to true. Isn't it more appropriate for wasHandled: to be set by the code that actually _handles_ the event? i.e., in #mouseDown:? In my overridden mouseDown:, I have several code paths that may or may not choose to handle the event. The logical approach seemed to be for each to simply checked #wasHandled and, if not, decide whether it wants to handle it and, if so, set wasHandled: true, so none of the subsequent possibilities will attempt to handle it.

OSProcess in Cog

I am trying to load and run OSProcess in Cog. I loaded: OSProcess-Base OSProcess-AIO OSProcess-Win32 OSProcess-Unix OSProcess-Tests Then ran the tests. Many failures. I looked at the vm and there is no ProcessPlugin or OSProcessPlugin. Should there be? What should I do? Thanks, Rob

[ANN] DnsClient: More protocol fun

Folks - I just finished another fun little protocol implementation. DnsClient is a client for DNS lookups of all sorts. Why implement the DNS protocol you ask? Well, because 1) it's fun, 2) it's educational, and 3) it's non-blocking. The latter is actually interesting, we've found that occasionally we get very long VM blocking due to synchronous name lookup performed in the Unix socket code. You can install DnsClient from Squeaksource: (Installer ss project: 'ar') install: 'DnsClient-Core'; "all the code" install: 'DnsClient-Tests'; "the tests" install: 'DnsClient-Hacks'. "use DnsClient when present" DnsClient should work well but beware that on Windows it will currently use the deefault fallback name servers (Google DNS and OpenDNS) since I still need to implement the primitive to return the proper resolv.conf content (which is spread out in the Windows registry). Consequently, if you're trying look up local names or if you are behind a firewall, these addresses will fail until I've implemented the primitive proper. Cheers, - Andreas

ChangeSets and Project Isolation

I noticed while examining the class comment for ChangeSet that there are some instance variables leftover which seem to be related to the deprecated project isolation functionality. A bit more poking exposed some methods which seem to be leftover as well. I'm thinking about seeing if I can rip some of this stuff out without breaking anything, unless there's a good reason why I shouldn't. Anyone still using this stuff since 4.1? -- Casey Ransberger
