Clay Shirky has been commenting on this since 2003. Contributions to any open source project follows the same power law distribution.
That is the power of open source: The fact that someone makes only one commit to Squeak trunk ever, is of no importance.
Whether that fix was a *good* and *useful* fix is what is important. A lot of value is to be had in the long tail :-)
