We don't have 3.x VMs anymore, and I rather doubt that a 4.5-class image could run on such a VM anymore?
If it is possible to run a 4.5-class image on a 3.x Mac VM, I'm happy to turn the preference into a Pragma style one, on PowerManagement. But if not, we should remove/deprecate the preference.
I really do think this is a move-to-trashcan case...
