Hi
I have a question: since I changed my address to gmail I do not see my reply to certain email in the mailing-list. It seems that other see them.
Does anybody experience the same? Is it a setup in the gmail account.
Sorry but I never realized how disrupting it was when reading thread to not see your own emails :)

This is strange, since I am using gmail for all mailing-lists and I do see my own messages. I use the Web browser to access the mail, are you using a mail client?

It works for me. I download my mail via fetchmail and view it in mutt. I have never used the webmail interface, but technically, it is still GMail.

I'm a GMail user too, and whenever I write an e-mail in response to a list mail that also goes to the list, I immediately see the e-mail in the conversation I responded to. (What a long and winded sentence, by the way.) I don't actually *receive* the e-mail as such, though; i.e., I don't find it marked "unread" in my inbox.
It gets comfortable over time. :-)
Best,
Michael

This is a setting in mailman, not gmail. If you log into
http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/options/squeak-dev
you can change whether you want to see your own posts to the list or not.

Tx funny enough this was already set right. So I resaved the settings and wish it will work.

Me also in gmail I don't see my answer in my client mail. But with yahoo it's ok I have enable the option to recive my mail so I think the problem is gmail.
But you can still ask for an acknowledgement in the option of the mailing list.

I'm actually quite comfortable with the way it is, but thanks for pointing this out. [Soft music! Thoughtful voice:] You know, I've learnt something today... :-D

Ah, I missunderstood the initial post then. I miss actual list mails. It happens at least once a week that someone makes a post obviously to the list, but I only see it from the responses of others. It is like a reverse kill file or something.

Yes, I seem to miss emails. I only see them when someone else replies sometimes.

My experience has been that if you post to a list you will not see your first email but then as soon as some one responds then it will show up in the "conversation" as gmail calls it.

Eeek. So Google decides what to do with your incoming email? This is so evil.

The fun part is that sometimes I see my mails sometimes not.... So I guess that I will change to my other email address again :( On 6 oct. 06, at 20:51, Andreas Raab wrote:

It is not as bad as it sounds. Your outgoing email to a list is automatically archived and does not show up in the inbox only the very first time. But as soon as there is a thread then it does show up in the thread. But it will always be there in your sent mail and all mail boxes.
