SqueakSVN

Three questions: 1. Is anyone outside of HPI using the SqueakSVN tool (http://www.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/hirschfeld/projects/ssvn/index.html)? 2. Is anyone working on a similar project for Git? 3. Do any of the HPI folks have suggestions on creating a Git based tool (especially insight into re-using parts of the SqueakSVN code)? Ohhh nice ... I once uploaded an MCM but was not able to delete it from one of my projects since it was not deletable from the web interface. Now the project is clean. unused methods in methodDictionary

MethodDictionary has a method "growNoBecome". It is invoked by "MethodDictionary>>fullCheckNoBecome". It is invoked by "MethodDictionary>>at:putNoBecome:". It is invoked by ????? (that is nobody). Can anybody explain this or should I generate a bug report? I have no idea if any of the Squeak forks exhibit the same behavior. I am running Squeak 3.10.2. Ralph Boland

Squeaksource data loss?

Folks - I'm not sure who to direct this to, but it looks like I just lost some important data on squeaksource.com. For testing the closure bootstrap, I had added various configuration maps to the MCUpdateTests repository. As of these morning these version seem to have gone; as a consequence, the closure bootstrap breaks instantly. It is very disturbing to me that such a valuable community service would suffer data loss. Does anyone know who to contact regarding the matter? Thanks, - Andreas

Posting to Package Universe

Hello —, I tried posting to Package Universe using the Instructions in http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/5899 . Howerver, the graphical method left me with no response after clicking the submit button for the “new release.” Afterwards, I tried the code method. This left me inside the [] repeat loop. Aparently, nothing gets postet to the Universe. The Packages I‘m trying to post have been created in my local image and are available both on SqueakSource and SqueakMap. Can anyone give more detailled instructions or debugging entry points? So Long, -Tobias

is there a by-delegation method generator?

Is there a tool to generate methods for delegation? I would like to be able to ... pick the instance variable (to delegate to), pick a 'sample' class, and then select methods (from the sample class' hierarchy) for local forwarding. I looked through the menus (of a recent image) and find no menu-labels suggesting such a capability. Also, is there an option to generate stub methods for subclassResponsibility? Thanks, Cam

MCM update script

Folks - I've set up a little test for the suggested MCM update script via Monticello. In order to try it out, do the following: * Get a copy of http://ftp.squeak.org/3.10/Squeak3.10-7159-basic.zip * Fire up Monticello and point it at http://squeaksource.com/MCUpdateTest * Load the latest MonticelloConfigurations package from there and ONLY that package (the fixes included are a strict prerequisite for this to work) Now run the following code: MCMcmUpdater updateFromRepositories: #( 'http://squeaksource.com/MCUpdateTest' ). This will go to the repository and discover that there is update-ar.1.mcm and update-ar.2.mcm. It will load the first, find that there is nothing to do, move on to the second. The second has actually re-ordered the Exceptions and the Morphic package to allow for loading of a modification enabling SystemProgressMorph to change its label. It then uses the configuration to update all the remaining listed packages (and you can see the effect of the updated label right away). If we'd find that at some point the order needs to be changed to be able to load a particular modification, we would just issue an update.mcm with the new order. Hope this illustrates what I am imagining for an update mechanism using Monticello. Cheers, - Andreas
