Hi, Since a few weeks I am writing English texts about the Dynabook. The idea is to share opinion on the topic, and see if there are interests, opinions, comments., etc. As for now I am looking at how it relates with pedagogy. Later I hope to think more on its technical dimension. However I am looking for a supplementary native English speaking native to help proof reading it. Each text is not very long, so it is not a lot of work. About IM (Instant Messaging) clients for Squeak

HI all, Currently I'd like to build a client for Matrix [1], which is a decentralized communication protocol, and there are already several servers and clients around [2]. When looking for other IM clients for Squeak, I found this wiki page [3], in which IRC, ICQ and Jabber are mentioned. But as that page have not been updated for a decade, I'm curious that what's current status. Are there any new IM clients emerged? And is it possible to build Matrix client based on them? BTW, I have created a Squeak room [4] in matrix.org server, anyone interested can join and have a try. Windows Right Click support

Hi All, I just had a customer trying to use a new Windows Tablet computer (with and without tablet mode on) trying to execute a Right-Click in our software (Immersive Terf - Squeak 4.1). He is not using a mouse instead he tried using the touchscreen two finger and touchpad two fingers and tried pressing the right mouse button area on the touchpad. All of these things didn't work. He reports that it works fine on other windows applications. I've asked him to get a mouse and try with that (figuring that a mouse driver may fix the problem). I'll see if I can work with him to capture the mouse events. My question is has anyone ever seen this before? Is this something new from Microsoft? Did event encoding change for trackpads and touch screens? (All of this appears to work fine on my computer two-finger trackpad). Suggestions are welcome! Thanks! All the best, Ron Teitelbaum

Does anyone have an old Mac image they can share?

Does anyone have an image that was saved from an old Mac that they could share with me? I am looking for any image, any version, just as long as the image was saved from a big-endian machine such as a pre-Intel Macintosh. I can't find any big-ender images on files.squeak.org, but maybe I am looking in the wrong place. Background: I am experimenting with image snapshots in network byte ordering (which happens to be big-endian) and I want to find out if problems that I am seeing are caused by a regression in the classic VM. trunk image locked (was: The Inbox: Kernel-eem.1185.mcz)

My image just locked after it tried to unwind normally from a network timeout. I had to kill it from the OS. Eliot would you guide me how to get my trunk image rolled back to a state without this fix so I can try to get back to where I was to see if its related? Should I just load Kernel-eem.1184, an earlier one, or something else? Interop with Squeak forks

I had previously asserted that it was the squeak team’s responsibility, as the parent of several children to inspire unification and to adopt a development approach that would automatically help being things together more. Back then I felt this was needed particularly for those of us who were interested in developing libraries or applications that would be useful to all branches. I am slowly looking through my old code (squeak 3.9-4.0) era, so see what can be resuscitated . On my travels I found a couple of my old videos from 2010. This video shows off “grow”, a command line tool for invoking and building images based on the different forks.
