Hi Students,
Today is the last of the coding phase of this 2008 edition of the Google Summer of Code. Please take two minutes to reply to this single question:
1) What did you do last week?
Also, the final evaluation period will begin today. At this link
http://groups.google.com/group/google-summer-of-code-announce/web/final-surv...
you'll find all the required information.

Hi,
Last week was quite dense :)
- we now have first order inference working (Inheritance squeak --> smalltalk) and similarity (<-> animal <-> creature) -I improved the seaside interface (still plenty of ideas, especially: -- make the memory an object (class side now) so that one can has his own memory sandbox -- use a parameter to set up the number of reasoning cycle to run -- improve the ergonomy (waiting pages, highlights elements...) -- item and entity explorer -- etc, etc... -set up a seasidehosting account (http://nars.seasidehosting.st (one glabal memory) ...
I think the app is done for GSoC. I hope soon to continue. How I see the next year is: -some improvments (bug fixes, some cleaning), -coumpound term and associated inference -Then, refactoring in the aim to better dispatch treatments, inference rules dispatch, etc...
I won't be able to start these tasks before november. Meanwhile I'll just do small changes, fixes... I'll probably spend some time on it at ESUG though.
Now, just thank you all ! Without beeing selected I won't have made this great experience. I hope soon, some people will find some interest in this system but I guess it's a bit too early to imagine it as "productive". When a bit cleaner (and some design direction chosen), I'll open a squeaksource account so that anybody interested can join. If people are already interested, they can contact Klaus or myself.
Again, thanks a lot. This has been a really cool experience :)
Cheers, Cédrick
Hello,
What's new: - log direct messages - take '/me' messages into account - Web interfaca to read the logs (need to be deployed somewhere different than localhost to test it though...) - bug fixes - Handlers can now save their configuration through Magma (wich are reloaded when the bot is reconnected). Existing handlers need to take this into account. I've spent some time to implement that with files but was less convenient that Magma...
The whole need more tests as there are annoying small bugs. That definitely need to be stable for ESUG ;)

Added the SAFormatLayer, an extension that groups all the commands related to visual aspects of range of characters, like font effects (italics/bold/narrow/underline) and colors. It allows to change the aspect of a single range of chars, or to a whole class of range of chars.
Implemented a new buffer implementation that substitutes the rough SAStringBuffer. SAStringListBuffer instead stores the buffer content in a linked list of strings. It is not optimal but for almost all the buffer operations it takes O(number of lines) instead of O(number of chars).
